Long Men Ke Zhan

Getting a taxi through Uber at checkout was a hassle. We eventually booked one coming from ruifang with help from staff, but the process was delayed. Even though we’d already mentioned our trouble with the app, the staff member on duty continued cleaning and only helped after we approached her again. A taxi-service notice at reception might make things easier, especially for guests who don’t understand Chinese. We can speak Chinese, but it could still help. There are quite a lot of stairs to climb with luggage, though the room itself was alright. Staff had turned on the dehumidifier before we arrived, and check-in was smooth. Breakfast was porridge with condiments, bread, and coffee. We also joined the guided night tour for 400/pax to learn about jiufen’s gold-mining history. It was really informative, and our guide Xiao Xian was knowledgeable and passionate. I’d recommend it to anyone interested in jiu fen’s past.

Getting there takes some effort: the hotel is far uphill from the bus station, and there’s no elevator across its three floors. I’d avoid bringing luggage or staying here if stairs are difficult for you, though Jiufen itself may be a challenge in that case. Once you’re there, the rooms and atmosphere are incredible. The hotel starts at the top of jiufen street, so walking down the shopping district gives you a mountain-top view of town. The dining area looks out over the whole town, and they provide a free lunch snack and traditional Taipei breakfast. They aim to be eco-friendly, so bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste. Hot water is available from reception.

The hosts were lovely and always happy to help with recommendations or anything we needed. I especially enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast, with its comforting porridge. From the hill above Jiufen street, the view over the mountains and ocean is breathtaking. I had a peaceful, wonderful stay at this Airbnb and highly recommend it.

Dragon Inn is right above Jiufen Old street, and the owner and staff were friendly and accommodating. I slept comfortably, and the room was superb. Breakfast was delicious too. I’ll definitely come back.
