Open Room Hotel

This small boutique hotel is tucked between local street food spots and the famous Tamsui Old Street, and it’s a real hidden gem. I arrived before check-in, and the charming receptionist met me by the elevator, pointed me toward some local food, and looked after my luggage. Irene’s recommendations were great. She also had my room cleaned first so I could check in early and settle in. When I needed to figure out the bus to my event, she worked out the route and anticipated other travel needs too. The room was clean and pleasant, with complimentary drinks and a hot water machine for making tea or coffee. It’s the concierge-like service that really makes the place stand out. I’d recommend it wholeheartedly.

From the outside, it doesn’t look like much, and it’s actually hard to find, but what a great hotel hidden inside. The room on the 9th floor was modern, spacious, and clean, with hot water, a huge TV, and a city view. The staff were especially helpful and ready to make the stay comfortable. This hotel was the highlight of our time in Taiwan.

The room quality was good overall, and the service was excellent. It’s in a good location, though we had trouble finding it when we first arrived. A couple of things could be better: the bathroom door doesn’t lock, and the coffee tray is hidden behind a closet door rather than left out in the open.

I stayed in room #5 for 14 days, and it started to feel like home. I was offered a switch to an ocean view for half of my stay, but I was very happy with the mountain view. The location is convenient, within walking distance of Tamsui Old Street, the MRT station, and other tourist attractions. The staff were lovely and hospitality was great. I had some concerns when I booked, but it turned out to be a great hotel in Tamsui, New Taipei City, Taiwan. I’m sure I’ll return to Open Room Hotel.
