8/10
A convenient spot near Puli city, with a Family Mart across the street. The room was clean, the service was great, and the bed felt just right, neither too firm nor too soft. We had a room with two queen beds, though the toilet layout was a little odd. Breakfast was a Chinese-Western buffet.

The prices were very friendly, and the hotel offers a lot for the money, including a gym, sauna, karaoke, and a varied breakfast. The lobby is gorgeous, and the staff were kind and helpful. My room was clean and tidy, and the aisle was quiet, though there was a slight cigarette smell. It’s also convenient for 7-11, the night market, and some tourist attractions. If you want a cheap, cheerful hotel, give it a try.

Breakfast really lived up to what other travelers say online. There was a wide variety of food, and the staff at the breakfast restaurant greeted us warmly and politely. The room was huge and very clean. Puli Modern Hotel is in the center of Puli township, with restaurants and a Family Mart just a 3-5 minute walk away. Sun Moon Lake is about a 20-minute drive. There are two parking areas, and the price is amazing. It may be rated only 3 stars, but everything felt worthy of 5. I’ll 100% come back, and recommend it to anyone looking for quality on a budget.

The beds were comfortable, but they didn’t clean the room, the breakfast was seriously underwhelming, and the manager was arrogant. Get different management and some staff who care about the customer.

The double room had plenty of space, and the place was clean and modern. There’s a wheelchair-accessible Family Mart across the street, and parking is also across the street. Many facilities couldn’t be used because of covid, though I hope that changes in the future.
