Villa San Diego

There was plenty of space around the estate, it was quiet, and parking was easy. The bed felt just right, and breakfast was generous with vegetarian choices. My friends and I shared a two-story building, with a shared fridge downstairs. The room was big, but somehow didn’t feel warm or personal. A bedside table or dressing area would’ve helped. There were also a lot of odd layout choices: a mirror facing the door, and air conditioning blowing right onto the bathroom door, which could leave you cold after a shower. The shower and toilet were separate, which was inconvenient. The wet and dry separation was just half a glass panel, so you have to shower behind it. There was nowhere in the shower to put toiletries, and no mouthwash cups in the bathroom. The TV faced the wall next to the door, so watching it was awkward. The hairdryer’s airflow was weak, not great for long hair. A bit disappointing for a place with such an overall European estate feel.

Almost every guest seems to agree that the owner is incredibly nice and easy to talk to. Villa San Diego in Puli Township has garden-view accommodation, free WiFi, and free private parking. All rooms come with an outdoor balcony, and it’s a beautiful, comfortable place.

It was okay in general, but the room felt really cramped for what one night cost. I had to leave my luggage on the floor since there wasn’t even a little table or bedside stand. I used the small table in the room for my belongings and piled the luggage onto the chair. It didn’t feel homey at all.

The breakfast was colorful and beautifully laid out on a clean white porcelain plate: blanched broccoli, boiled eggs, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, vegetable salad, nuts, and baked potatoes. Sun came through the windows into the warm room, with deep red walls, plants, and artwork giving it a comfortable European country feel. The place is Fuxing Santiago Manor. Its design mixes Spanish style with a Southern European countryside atmosphere. Red brick walls, arched windows, European chandeliers, and distinctive furniture and decorations make it feel like a romantic Mediterranean manor. The brunch is focused on healthy, natural food, pairing local ingredients with European cooking methods. The flavors are refreshing and have nice layers. A lovely place for a meal, some photos, or just a relaxing afternoon.
