Airline Inn Taichung Green Park Way

The location makes it easy to walk to several attractions, and we had a smooth check-in and a spacious room. The walls are very thin, though, so I wouldn’t choose this place if you’re a light sleeper.

We found the hotel convenient for getting around Taichung: it’s near SOGO, beside Watson’s, and close to bus stops, shops, cafes, and restaurants. The front desk gave great service, housekeeping was friendly, and breakfast had a tasty mix of Western and Asian dishes. It also felt affordable for a family, and the other guests were generally quiet and polite. Street noise was noticeable during the day, though. I’d also like to see cleaner-looking carpets and fluffier towels without loose threads. The carpets didn’t smell, and the towels still worked fine, but they looked worn.

The rooms are huge, and the location is easy to get around from, with restaurants and places of interest within walking distance. During our weeklong stay, staff were attentive and helpful, and housekeeping did a very good job each day while we were out. Breakfast was good, although the selection was a little limited and many main items, including porridge, buns, fruit, cereal, and bakery items, came back each day. No real complaint about that. I’d recommend staying here when visiting Taichung.

For the price, this felt like poor value. I stayed three nights. The hotel is dated and has little character, with big, plain rooms that felt more like a convention center. The good points were the location, room size, and attentive staff. Breakfast was poor, especially if you want Western food, since there was almost nothing to eat. Our room smelled musty, and the old carpet was discolored and stained. On the first night we had to change rooms because shower water got onto the room’s carpet. The next day they fumigated our room while all our clothes and some open snacks were spread out. We didn’t want to make a scene, but afterward we had throat irritation. I told the front desk fumigating an occupied room could be hazardous, and they just said, “sorry, sorry.”
