Dope Hostel

The bed was comfortable, even though its old-era frame made some noise when getting in and out. The room itself is a military dependents' village dormitory, full of period character and a bit like staying at your grandma's house. Room service was thoughtful and thorough, with a serious, well-managed feel from the travel agency. Check-in was clear and accurate, and had that same distinctive dormitory character. I arrived late and worried about bothering the staff, but I let them know I'd checked in safely and got an instant reply. You can enjoy the art museum and Caowu Road nearby. It's lively and unique during the day, then peaceful at night and easy to sleep. Definitely worth staying to experience one of these dormitory rooms!

It's inside Shenji New Village, and getting around is convenient. The staff were friendly, and the stay was great value. We chose a double room and shared the lounge and bathroom with other guests, but everything was clean and sharing didn't cause any problems. There may be some visitor noise during the day, though it quiets down at night 💪. The tea-seed toiletries from Chatzutang were a nice extra ❤. I'd come back if I needed a place again!

After nearly six years of studying and working in Taichung, it feels like my second home, and I thought I knew the city and its places to stay inside out. I didn't expect Audit Village to feel so different. The room keeps the retro style of an old military dependents' village, yet it's completely clean, with no sense of age or clutter. Open the old-fashioned window and there's modern life right outside, a funny moment that makes you wonder what era you're in. My girlfriend especially loved being able to head straight down to the market after waking up. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and sitting with friends on the balcony in the evening, taking in the atmosphere of Audit Village, was a unique experience. A traditional house that connects you with modern society, and a trendy place to stay. Highly recommended.

The people at reception and the shops in Xincun Market were lovely, and the place felt comfortable. Once night came, though, it became a nightmare. The comforter cover was so prickly I needed a jacket as a barrier. The mattress was extremely hard, and I tossed and turned, got up three or four times, and still struggled to fall asleep again. The upper and lower bunks made it worse. There were tons of mosquitoes at night, so electric mosquito repellent is highly recommended. It was quiet at night, but noisy early in the morning because of people and vehicles. Better soundproofing would help, or earplugs.
