Mapleton Spa Motel

The whole place had a musty smell. The hot water made such a loud noise that I worried it might burst, and the wallpaper was peeling and left untidied. The comforters and pillows were awful. Washing them and replacing them are clearly two different things. It cost 3080 NTD, when paying a little more could get you a decent business hotel in the city. I packed up and left less than 20 minutes after checking in. Within five minutes of arriving, I’d called the front desk to ask about checkout and a refund. They offered to move me, but the other room still smelled damp and looked as if it had been cleaned after someone died there. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ Be careful choosing this place. I didn’t get a refund, and I didn’t ask why I had to leave after just 10 minutes!

At night it was impressively quiet, with good soundproofing and an air conditioner that didn’t make much noise. The bathroom has a separate shower and toilet, plus a tub you can soak in. Although older reviews said there was no bathroom door, there’s now a sliding one. The bedding left me unsure: the comforter was a golden-yellow silk sheet with a thin blanket, and I couldn’t tell if the yellow piece had been washed or was there to match the decor. I asked for another because it was too thin, but the only spare was the same kind, and its outer layer was pilling. The double bed also sagged a little in the middle, like there was a groove. The room itself was clean and tidy.

The shower spa in the room sounded like a nice feature, but after about two minutes the fire alarm kept going off. It scared my child badly and they cried uncontrollably. The staff also kept hurrying me along before my allotted time was up. I hadn’t failed to pay or eaten their rice, and how was I supposed to predict that my period would suddenly start? They even complained when I ordered delivery, saying, “Hey, you only have 20 minutes left.” Is there some rule against ordering food when you have 20 minutes left? This motel really isn’t worth recommending, and I can see why its reviews are so low. The woman at the front desk especially should know that this is a service job. Is that attitude acceptable?

The garden is nicely laid out with palm trees and other plants, and the location is fairly convenient, near Fengyuan Avenue and an interchange. Breakfast is provided, with nearby breakfast choices and McDonald's wraps also available. The rooms are spacious and have a spa-style jacuzzi, steam room, and SPA facilities. There’s even a TV in the bathroom, so you can watch while taking a bath.
