Moon Lake House Inn

The owner was helpful with suggestions for nearby attractions, but at NT$2,400 for one Friday night booked through B platform, I felt the accommodation was a bit overpriced for what I experienced. The setting is pleasant, with nice landscaping and natural scenery, and the buildings are well maintained. Waking up to the view was lovely, and the B&B has a simple, homey feel. There were lots of mosquitoes outside in summer, though none inside. Ants were plentiful in the B&B and hard to avoid. Cleanliness was disappointing. There seemed to be dust everywhere, including on the covers for cups and plates, the washing machine cloth, and the hand soap container, which all need replacing. There was no record of regular checks for the large water dispenser, like the ones at schools. The shower temperature was hard to control, and the sink switched between hot and cold. Separate faucets would be inconvenient in winter. Breakfast wasn’t included. There was an opened bag of steamed buns or dumplings in the fridge, and you could steam eggs yourself. They also left an apple and an orange (?).

From the platform in the front yard, the wide mountain view was enchanting. The owner was warm and even gave me coffee bags made from coffee she had grown herself, which made me want to stay longer. I spent New Year’s Eve at this guesthouse. It didn’t have the grandeur or cleanliness of a star-rated hotel, and mosquitoes occasionally flew in and bothered me, but it had the cozy feel of a guesthouse back in my hometown.

It was great that the owner let us book the whole house for a single weekday night. The rooms were clean, and we had a fantastic stay overall. There were mosquitoes in the courtyard because of the flowers and plants, but none inside. We could hear helicopters parked nearby, though it got very quiet after 8:30 PM.

The surroundings were quiet, and the room was clean. I’d definitely recommend it.
