This hostel has themed rooms in the med center / yizhong night market district. There’s no front desk. After booking, the host contacts you through the Line app with directions to the unmarked street entrance and codes for the entrance, elevator, and room wing. The rooms in that wing also use keyless entry codes. The host was very friendly, gave me tips on things to do in Mandarin, and was flexible about when I paid.

The room looked much older than the website photos, and the cleanliness needs improvement. I booked based on the good reviews, but I’m really disappointed. If I’d known there were funeral homes and undertakers nearby, I wouldn’t have chosen this place. Parking was another problem: we spent half an hour looking for a spot, then walked nearly 10 minutes with our luggage and pet stroller.

The room was acceptably clean and the shower had enough water pressure, but some of the fixtures need updating. The refrigerator compressor was so loud we couldn’t plug it in. The air conditioning didn’t work properly, and the remote batteries were low, so you had to tap it to make it work. The owner should inspect the equipment.

It’s a simple place, not a five-star hotel, but it has what you need, including indoor and outdoor refrigerators and an outdoor washing machine. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and good value for the money. I’d consider it for future trips. I took off one point because parking is a little inconvenient.
