The breakfast was freshly prepared and brought right to our door, and there was a full tea set with local tea leaves, which I loved as a tea drinker. The kids were also delighted by the large accommodation and wooden bathtub. We came all the way from Switzerland to enjoy this nostalgic glimpse of Wuqi, Taichung, with its gentle Japanese touches and relaxing atmosphere. There’s a kimono try-on room where a professional helps with the traditional outfits, which felt like a carnival for the kids. We only stayed one night, and my son wished we could have had another. We’d definitely bring our Swiss friends back soon.

Staying here was a good experience!

It’s a pleasant place to look at historic buildings, but some areas are taken up by businesses, like the ice cream shop in YiDe building. This spot was a bit worse than YiDe for me because none of the buildings could be visited inside. We rode motorbikes over 40m to get here, then spent only 5-10m looking around. The governor should pay more attention to these historic sites!

There’s an ice cream shop by the entrance, and the Japanese-style accommodation can be booked for a stay. We walked around the buildings outside and also went into the small underground bomb shelter.
