The room was spotless and that bathtub was lovely. They even let me check in early, and when I got sick, the hosts were really caring and looked after me. I’m grateful to the hostess and her husband for helping me when I needed it. It’s a charming, comfortable little place, and I’d absolutely recommend staying here.

We spent three nights cold and short on sleep, with just one pillow. Our third-floor room was freezing in winter, and there was no way to get warm air from the AC. The basin water was icy and took ages to reach room temperature, never mind warm. We asked for an extra pillow and were told it would cost NT200. I’m not sure whether that was per night, but I’d never heard of being charged for an extra pillow before. The room wasn’t cleaned during our stay, and even the beds weren’t made. Thin curtains also let the neighbour’s lights shine in until after 11 pm. We chose the place because of the good reviews, so it was pretty disappointing.

The one staff member who stood out was a very sweet, chatty woman who made an effort despite the language barrier. The others barely responded when we said hello or good morning, and only gave us a quick bye at checkout. Apart from checking us in, we didn’t really interact with them. The reception space is small but has cute decor, and there isn’t much of a lounge area where you can sit at a table to eat or have some coffee. Getting around meant a lot of walking or using a scooter. The inn is tucked into an alley that was a bit hard to find, and there weren’t many public transport options. We found good breakfast places nearby and could walk to shopping areas in 20-30 minutes. Our room had cute, old-timey decor, but it was dusty and not very pleasant. The bed was okay, though hard, like many hotel beds in Taiwan, and we expected some noise through the walls in an old house. The AC was old and very loud, and its filters clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a while. It gave me a sore throat. The bathroom was worse: the shower curtain was really dirty along the bottom and too short, so water spilled out. The tiles were yellow and moldy, like a bathroom left uncleaned for a long time. There were only two large towels, with no smaller one for hands or face. We picked this B&B after seeing the great Google reviews. We knew a cheaper place wouldn’t be luxurious, but the condition of the bathroom was disgusting and the stay didn’t meet our expectations. It was okay for the three nights, but we definitely won’t return.

The rooms were cute and clean, and everyone on staff was helpful and fun to talk to. We stayed for a week while exploring Tainan with a friend, and the quiet alley setting was still close to many tourist spots in West Central District. The location and incredibly kind staff made it work really well for both of us. I’d recommend it. Thanks to Chung Fu Inn for a great stay!

We had a peaceful, cozy room that was spotless and free of mosquitoes, and the bathroom was especially clean and elegant. The herbal scent around the inn was calming, too. Our host was so welcoming and kind. It’s well located near restaurants serving delicious local food and some popular spots. Highly recommend for a relaxing stay in Tainan!
