Guanziling Lin Kuei Yuan Hot Spring Resort

Soaking in the private mug hot spring was relaxing enough that I did it several times a day. The staff I met were friendly and greeted me with smiles. One receptionist, though, seemed stern and unwelcoming. Since receptionists are the first people guests meet at a resort, I think a friendly first impression matters. I hope they can improve that, as I’d love to come back soon.

There’s a private mud hot spring in the room, which is nice. The room and resort itself feel a bit old and run-down.

We were traveling with an 87-year-old, and the separate house setup worked really well. They offer a discount package for elderly travelers, and the staff were especially kind and thoughtful. They brought a plastic chair for her to use in the shower, and let us take the buffet breakfast to the room so she didn’t have to climb the stairs to the second-floor restaurant. The house layout was a little odd. The bed could be seen through a large window, so we had to draw the curtain, and the bath faced the shared garden, which felt less private. A blind helped with that, while still letting me see a bit of sky. The garden was lovely in the morning sun, though its bushes didn’t fully screen the street. We could see passersby, but there weren’t many, no one seemed rude enough to peer in, and passing cars quickly went by.

It’s hard to find wheelchair-friendly hotels in this hilly area when you’re traveling with a grandma who uses a wheelchair, so we were glad to find this one. They gave us a house close to the restaurant, which served a good breakfast. A partition between the beds would have been better, but we were satisfied. We appreciated the discount for elderly guests. We had such a good stay that we added another night, and we’ll come back.
