How Ciao B and B

The toilet sat under a thin board that made a really loud noise when heavy rain came in the middle of the night 😱. The room itself smelled awful and was covered in dust, enough to bother even my insensitive nose. There were lots of gross mosquitoes, and the electric mosquito coil was empty. I didn’t dare use the towels, and the cups were dusty too. After sleeping there, I felt itchy all over.

I booked last minute because the booking site photos looked appealing and the price was only $1980. It turned into a new achievement for me, but not a good one. I checked in at Misheng Sanguan, room 2701, on September 6, 2025. The afternoon sunlight made the room look bright, much like the photos. When I came back in the evening, though, the lighting was dim and the place felt a bit eerie. While taking my makeup off, I found a cockroach on the sink. There was no shower gel when I went to shower, and then I saw another cockroach on the bathroom wall. The curtains were very sheer, so it won’t suit you if you like a completely dark room. The air conditioning wouldn’t go below 24 degrees Celsius, and there were irregular noises as I was falling asleep, along with strange bathroom sounds. The hygiene problems and how frightening it felt made me pack up and go home without staying overnight. If you’re concerned about cleanliness or are easily spooked, think twice. If atmosphere matters to you or you’re brave, maybe it’s just right. A pretty good experience...?

The bathroom looked romantic, with lots of plants, a dehumidifier, fragrance, and a Bluetooth speaker. Coffee, tea, and cookies were available upstairs, and the decor was beautiful. But the stones and plants were moldy, and I saw a cockroach in the bath. If you don’t look too closely, it’s a charming guesthouse. The mattress was a little sunken, and instead of bottled water they provided glass jars. I booked through booking.com. On arrival, I had to contact the assistant for the main entrance and room codes, then check in by myself. For a bank transfer, they asked me to cancel the Booking.com reservation, saying the site charges extra fees to bookers. It seems the merchant may be the one receiving the fee. I don’t mind canceling if there’s a discount for dealing directly, since that could work for both sides, but there wasn’t one here, which made the experience less pleasant. At 1980 NTD per person on a weekday, it’s not cheap, though it’s acceptable for an occasional stay.

I made a last-minute booking in Tainan through Agoda and called after booking the second building. They upgraded us to a room with a bathtub in the first building 🥹🫶. The bed was very soft, which my boyfriend loved, but I’m not used to that 🥲. The bath products were pretty good, and the hair conditioner wasn’t the bad kind either. I liked the place overall and would consider staying here again!
