Rainbow Island B&B

My girlfriend booked and paid for this place through booking.com, but once we saw how small it was, we decided to stay somewhere else. She called to cancel and ask for a refund, and the owner said the hotel policy meant we wouldn’t get our money back. We hadn’t even arrived, and the supposed no-refund disclaimer was written in Chinese, which we can’t read. It felt like customers were being scammed and having their money taken. The attitude was awful, the service poor, and nobody was friendly. Please don’t stay here.

The bed was one of the most comfortable I’ve slept in in Taiwan, and the sheets were clean. It’s a tiny place that works well for backpackers, with a slightly narrow stairway and decent soundproofing. Check-in went smoothly and the instructions were clear. I was really happy with my stay, and I’d choose rainbow island again if I come back to tainan.

We had a quad room for the parents and two teens, and it seemed newly done. The rooms were clean, and the owner was lovely and helpful. There’s no reception, so the owner comes to meet you. The building is right on the main street, though it’s so narrow and easy to walk past, even with satellite navigation. It’s six floors with no lift, so be ready for the stairs. I’d stay again.
