Burgary Hotel

The location was good, but the room didn’t feel welcoming. The air conditioner only had a strong setting and blew on the bed all night, while the refrigerator was loud and couldn’t be turned off. The shower and toilet had glass walls on the building’s window side, so you could be seen from outside when using the toilet, though there was a curtain. The bedroom also had a huge neon exit light shining all night.

The jacuzzi used to work, and there was a working TV in the bathroom, which was nice for relaxing. Both features have since been removed, and now it feels like an old hotel with a high price. The air conditioning runs warm and the furniture is very old. They need to upgrade the place, bring back the bathroom TV and fix the jacuzzi. I won’t return unless they make some upgrades, since there are more decent hotels nearby.

The front desk staff were polite, friendly and helpful. We were not far from exit 1 at Ximen station, and from our window we could see Taipei 101, President Office and CKS Memorial Hall. The room wasn’t modern or spacious. At 24 degrees or above on the air conditioner, mist appeared on the floor. The bathroom had no separate wet and dry areas, and the bathtub on the 12th Fl. needs fixing. The heavy room door let outside chatting through, and there was only one power socket in the room, with another in the bathroom.

The location worked really well, close to Ximending Market and the train station. Check-in went smoothly, and the elevator took me to the 8th floor. I liked the small onsen-style tub in the bathroom, and there was a second-floor eating area with snacks, coffee and hot water. The room was nicer than another nearby 3-star hotel, though about $640NT more expensive. Staff seemed unusually worried I might lose my room key and offered to hold it at the front desk. Maybe that’s just a kind of service I’m not used to, so I kept it with me.
