Citizen Hotel

Very good place for the price, with a nice breakfast and plenty of options. The location is great too. In our last three days, the only trip we took using transportation was to the zoo, yesterday. I highly recommend getting a day pass for the gondola and cable car to visit two places along the route. Uber was about 315, and we took the monorail and subway on the way back.

The breakfast was the highlight for me. It changed a little each day, with staples like congee and different toppings, and it may be the best hotel breakfast I’ve had. Staff were professional, helpful, and spoke English well enough to make things easy, even helping us arrange parking at several hotels we stayed at afterward. The rooms were clean and looked after, and the rooftop was a nice spot for sunset. They were a bit small, though that seems common in Taiwan, and I did miss having conditioner.

We were surprised by how much we liked our stay at the Citizen Hotel. Breakfast was a real standout, with coffee, tea, juice, oatmeal, toast, noodles, eggs, and steamed buns made fresh. The rooftop also has full-size washers and dryers, which came in handy. The rooms were comfortable and very clean, and the bathrooms had bidets. Though it’s on a busy street, we barely noticed traffic noise. Dongmen Station is about a five-minute walk away, and Zhongxiao Xingsheng is a little farther. The service was excellent, and we’d happily stay again.

After a long flight, I found the room clean and modest, with a shower I really liked. Breakfast was excellent, and for the price this felt like a great deal. Dongman Station is close, and plenty of shops, sites, and markets are within walking distance. It isn’t a full-service hotel, but we didn’t need that and weren’t looking for it. I’d recommend it for the location.
