Hamp Court Palace Taipei

I called and spoke with the duty manager about a very late checkout, but they didn’t seem willing to work with me. The only option that suited me was paying for another night. I was also frustrated when I asked if the general manager could call or speak with me at any point during the three days before my arrival and was told they weren’t available. Based on the hotel’s reviews, I expected better service. A nearby property from another major brand put someone with authority on the phone and worked out a reasonable late checkout fee. The restaurants at the hotel were good. I only wish they’d cooked my burger to medium when I ordered it. We stayed during a family trip to Taiwan. The room was modern and really nice, check-in was smooth and friendly, and the location was great. Parking was free when you have a rental car. Courtyard hotels in other countries have seemed much better than the ones I’ve stayed at in the US. Still, this was a great hotel with excellent service, and I’ll be back next time I visit Taiwan.

The gym was nice and had a great city view, though it isn’t open around the clock. The breakfast buffet was fairly limited, and the hotel isn’t near the city center. It takes at least a 15-minute drive to Taipei station. The rooms were clean and the beds comfortable, but small by Asian standards. Some design choices were hard to understand: there’s no outlet in the room for the boiler, and the toilet’s water tap is mounted sideways. There’s only a standing shower, no bathtub, and no desk for working.

The staff were both friendly and professional, and breakfast was really good, with a nice range of choices for vegetarians too. The rooms were great and very comfortable. I also approve of the hotel’s policy of not supplying things like combs and cotton buds.
