Our room was very quiet and comfortable, and with only a few rooms in the hotel, it felt peaceful. Taiwan beds are often quite hard; this one was firm too, but I still slept comfortably. The staff gave us a warm welcome at check-in. The hotel sits on quiet lanes, just a few turns from a small night market. We'd definitely come back.

The bathroom was the best part for me: a heated Japanese bidet toilet, a big shower, and a deep tub. I checked in after dark and only noticed the next morning that a whole wall was a frosted window. It didn't look in or out, but the daylight through it was lovely. The room itself had a cozy robe, free chilled soda and instant coffee, plus a little desk with a nice street view. The bed was clean and very comfortable. There was a Bluetooth speaker by the bed, though connecting my phone brought up a security error each time. The TV worked fine. The design is stylish, with dark walls, fun furniture, and modern appliances. There were lots of lights with about six switches, and I couldn't figure out how to turn off the closet light, which glowed all night. The bedside light also stayed partly lit after I switched it off, which was new to me. Staff were friendly and informative. I missed the free breakfast, but from what I saw it seemed to be fruit, nuts, and salad, which felt a bit sad. They offered a voucher for free coffee too, but I had to rush off. The neighborhood is lively and trendy, full of university students. Getting around was okay, with buses and bike share nearby. The subway is about 15 minutes away on the other side of the night market. There are loads of food choices outside in the market, from snacks, tea, juice, and dessert to sandwiches, noodles, rice, and pasta.

I liked the quiet, comfortable room and the Bluetooth speaker, and my short stay was enjoyable. The staff gave great service, and there were some bathroom amenities. For a longer visit, this could be a peaceful place to get away from the busy city. Still, getting around wasn't very convenient because the MRT is some distance away, and airport trips could be awkward unless you take a taxi. Toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shower caps would be useful basics to add. A rack or hooks for a face towel would help in the bathroom too. It'd also be nice if guests could rent a DVD player for a small fee. Security could be better: the lift door can be reached straight from the street, with only a few plants blocking it, and the front counter staff can't see it. Someone could get upstairs and go to a room if they wanted. I hope to come back for a longer stay next time.

The design was nice, but cleanliness wasn't good. There was a mildew patch on our ceiling, which felt especially unhealthy since I was pregnant then. We also found crumbs under the glass on the breakfast table, and the hallway carpet was stained.

This was our favorite place in two weeks of travel around Taiwan. Breakfast was free and generous, and the rooms felt clean and modern. We liked the nearby area, with Shida market and lots of old Da’an lanes and streets close by. I'd definitely stay here again in Taipei.
