NEOSOHO Hostel

The place smelled when you walked into the hostel, and the cleaning cart was right beside our room. Renting a towel was cheap, but the one they gave us had a hole and was sitting on the counter, where it didn’t seem clean. The showers weren’t clean either. At night the lights stayed bright, and a guest was arguing loudly with the receptionist. I don’t recommend staying here.

The low price, soft comfortable bedding, and strategic location are the good points. Still, the poor maintenance has left a lot of facilities malfunctioning. The inner bathroom door was broken, and the shampoo dispenser was broken too, with a huge amount of hair stuck inside. They did have shampoo in a separate bottle to use instead. The toilet bowl was stained, and a missing cushion separator between cubicles meant you could easily see into the next room from the top bunk. Towels aren’t provided, but you can rent one for an acceptable price. I think this used to be a nice place to stay.

I chose it for the location, but the staff were really unfriendly and the common room was dirty. The bathrooms were disgusting, with full garbage bins, bloody tampons, a urine smell, and hair all over. I’ve backpacked for over ten years and have never felt so grossed out by a place. I can’t comment on the rooms because I cancelled before checking in, after seeing the facilities. I’d pay a bit extra to stay somewhere cleaner.

The low price seems to bring in a lot of regulars who talk loudly in the room and don't show much consideration for others. The bathroom and toilet weren't clean, and the air conditioners were very noisy. The app photos also look like they could be years old. If your budget allows, I'd pick another hostel.
