The service was wonderful. Staff were very polite and helpful, and I’d highly recommend them. The location is excellent too, with a bus stop right by the hotel, the MRT three minutes away, and Taipei 101 about a ten-minute walk. Breakfast was the best free one we’ve had, with lots of Western and Eastern choices. The menu changed daily, and there was a seafood dish each morning, such as steamed fish or snails. We first had a room on the 3/F. It was extremely cold, the ceiling was dripping, and the leaky, chilly bathroom made us worry about mold. We thought the bathroom materials might be the cause: there was marble throughout the bathroom and shower stall, and we suspected water from upper floors was accumulating below because marble is porous. The front desk quickly helped move everything to the 5/F, which was much better. The 3/F is the lowest level, so move up. The basic room has central air conditioning but no central heat. Ask the front desk for a personal heater if you need one, and open the windows. There are mosquitoes, so if you open the windows, choose an upper floor, 5 or higher.

The staff were nice, the breakfast was good, and the place was clean. Still, the stay felt a bit too expensive for what we got, around 100€ a night for an 8 p.m. check-in and 11 a.m. check-out. We’d come back if it weren’t for that price, since there are nicer options for the money. The whirlpool was nice, but we needed it because the room was rather cold. The king-size bed came with just one blanket, the TVs were dated, and the whirlpool screen only showed local content. There was no heater, and the window looked out on a run-down apartment building.

The MRT makes getting around town quick, and taxis are cheap and efficient too. The location is good, with decent shopping nearby and about a ten-minute walk to 101. I really enjoyed staying here and hope to return to Taiwan soon. It was my first experience with Taiwan’s “motel” style. The bathroom was bigger than the bedroom, and the jacuzzi could fit a family of four.

The room was quiet even though it faced the main road, and the staff were friendly and spoke good English. The bathroom was spacious, with a large jetted tub. The hotel is centrally located, within walking distance of restaurants, shopping areas, malls, convenience stores, and liquor shops. Breakfast was simple and nothing special, but it was included and free. I’d be happy to stay again.

For an expensive four-star hotel, this was average at best. The room and bathroom were spacious, which was fortunate, but the toiletries were poor quality and laundry cost a lot. The floor had stains everywhere. There were lots of mosquitoes, so bring spray. The walls are thin enough that you hear neighbors doing everything, including the motor of a spa bath upstairs. The room lights have a poor control system, either all on or all off except for the bedside light. Turning on one TV also turns on the other one on a different channel, so you hear two channels at once, and the sound system doesn’t work. Breakfast was in a cramped area with limited choices for an expensive hotel, and the staff there had a bad attitude. Receptionists weren’t welcoming or polite, and came across as rude, looking at you as if you were from another planet. They upset my girlfriend, who is Taiwanese. I’m Australian. Check-in is at 8 p.m. Earlier check-in costs 1000 TWD. We booked two nights and were charged 2000 TWD, even though we only needed early check-in for the first night. Why charge for early check-in on the second night when we already had the room? They give you only one key card. If one person stays in the room, the other has no power. Compared with all the hotels we’ve stayed at, this was by far the worst for the price. Thanks, Tango House, for an average hotel experience.
