The We Hotel

The location worked well for us. Buses run along the same street, and NanGang station is about a slow 10-minute walk away, with sidewalks that aren't taken over by scooters. From there you can reach the MRT and high speed rail. Breakfast was better than what you'd get at a small US motel, as is true of other hotels in Taiwan, but the choices felt aimed at local and Asian travelers. Rice congee, cabbage, and rice noodles were served, while western guests might appreciate fresh seasonal fruit, croissants, and some cheese options. The hotel is small, with a nice European palace decor touch, though it didn't seem especially well cared for. The carpets had lots of stains. There was quite a bit of nighttime traffic through the hotel, which gave it more of a Love Motel feel. We also found the night staff might not be very polite. On our second night, a front desk employee in black sandals and sloppy business dress, who seemed exhausted, immediately warned me when I barely touched one of the armoured guard statues. It's a nice hotel, but service could be better.
