Ximen Holiday Fun Hotel

The room was very clean and well maintained, and the staff were friendly. Check-in and check-out were quick. It’s quiet enough to focus, with a supportive armchair in the classic double room that worked well for using a laptop. For more room to work, the 5th-floor public lounge has several tables and power outlets. The MRT is close, which helped me see more of Taipei on a tight schedule, and being in the heart of Ximen made the city’s nightlife easy to reach. A relaxing, affordable option for solo travelers who need work space.

The lounge was a nice place to unwind with friends after picking up snacks at the night market, and coffee and tea were available freely. Some of the hotel decor was attractive and good for photos. The hotel is near Ximen, with plenty of good food and night market stalls around. My room was clean, though the washroom was small and it was hard to keep the floor dry after a shower.

Noise was the main problem for us. Guests in the lounge were loud until nearly 3 am on our first two nights, and there were no quiet hours. Our room also let in conversations from next door and the sound of water rushing through the pipes whenever nearby guests used the bathroom. Since it had no window, the ventilation needs work. We noticed mold in the shower and the floor was a bit slippery, which seemed related to inadequate cleaning. On the plus side, we liked the 5th-floor lounge, free laundry and coffee, and microwave access. Water pressure and temperature controls in the room worked very well. The clean, nice-smelling lobby and helpful staff were another plus. It’s right in Ximending, within walking distance of the MRT and convenience stores.

I first considered this hotel because a friend had booked it for a trip. The room and facilities were great, with a washing machine, detergent, body soap, and pantry. Staff were friendly and very professional, and some, maybe all, could speak other languages. They stored my luggage at the counter too. I had no complaints and enjoyed the stay. The soundproofing isn’t great, but I still got some rest, probably because I was tired. I’d book here again whenever I can.
