Fine for a night, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you want somewhere cosy or welcoming. The rooms look much plainer and less cosy than the photos, and the staff weren’t rude, just not very friendly or helpful. Don’t expect too much.

The common room and lobby are on the top floor, where you can enjoy the city view. The rooms are small but beautiful, and there are fewer than ten per floor. Not every room has a window. There’s a lift as well as stairs.

The view is good, and this wasn’t the worst place I’ve stayed, but at $40 USD a night for a double room I don’t think it’s worth the price. Cleanliness is the minimum I expect from a hotel, and this one didn’t meet it. My floor was sticky, there were hairs on the bedspread, and the hallway floors were grimy, dirty, and sticky too. Maybe other guests get lucky with a clean room, but it seems hit or miss.

The rooms are a little small, but the attentive service made up for that. The receptionist was excellent at her job and very friendly. She also looked after my lost credit card and helped me a lot. The lounge on the 7th floor has the best view I’ve seen in Taitung.
