H& Taitung Feng Lin Resort Hotel

As a solo traveler, I felt safe here. The room and bathroom were spacious and very clean, and there was a cozy lobby plus a dedicated room key and main door key. Customer service was responsive. Block B is well placed in town, with a coin laundry just a few units away and a local supermarket, PX Mart, less than a five-minute walk away.

The interior was nice, and you can tell the company is trying to make guests comfortable. I stayed one night in Block B and had a late arrival planned, around 11pm, so I contacted the staff beforehand on the LINE app for self check-in instructions. I didn't get there until almost midnight, but they were still replying on LINE. I really appreciated that.

The mosquitoes were the biggest problem for me. There were so many that I could hardly sleep over my two nights. I only found out afterward that there was repellent to borrow, and there were very few sets for house guests. Getting around from here is great. Taitung train station is about a 10-minute drive, while the art museum, concert hall, and library are walkable. There are plenty of places to see on foot or by bike. Daily rental is around NT $500 for an electric bike and NT$100 for a regular one. There's not much service involved beyond check-in, as this is a BnB. The hosts communicate through the "Line app". The place was clean, though dated, and there was peeling paint on the room walls. Water pressure was great, and the small bathroom was clean. Towels, toothbrushes, and a mat were provided; ear plugs, a hairbrush, shower cap, and tiny soap were available at the entrance counter if needed. There was also a water fountain, and the kitchen had a microwave, coffee machine, tea bags, and coffee bags. Local tea and snacks were served daily at the entrance.

I liked having a balcony and a study area, and the room was clean, spacious, and had a window. It seems like a great place for digital nomads. The service was excellent, and I was impressed that the hot water still had good pressure on the third floor. There are good places to eat nearby. Tao fang, a grilled fish restaurant, is a two- to three-minute walk away, and there's also a coffee house with good coffee and dessert. I'd definitely stay here again if I visit taitung.
