You can walk to pretty much everything from here, and it’s well located. The staff are friendly, helpful, and speak good English. Rooms are small but clean. Coming by train? Bus 101 drops you very close to the hostel. Just let them know if you’ll arrive late, since the desk isn’t open 24 hours.

There’s a courtyard with lots of greenery and several places to sit, along with a fully equipped kitchen for guests who want to cook. This hostel is part of a chain in Taitung and was made from an old hotel several years ago.

The lounge and cafe downstairs were a relaxing place to come back to after a day out, and the staff were friendly. The atmosphere felt calm and thoughtfully put together. On my 4-5 November 2025 stay at Norden Ruder Hostel in Taitung, I had a Standard Single on the Top Floor. It had a comfortable single bed, a clean separate shower and toilet, and simple decor with light wood tones and greenery. There wasn’t much storage, but the layout used the space cleverly and felt more comfortable than I expected. I liked how the minimal style worked with natural touches: potted plants, exposed beams, warm lighting, and shared spaces that make you want to linger. The building used to be a hotel and has been changed into a bright design with an open central courtyard. Daylight comes into the atrium, giving it an airy, relaxed feel. It was a restful, stylish stay, and I’d come back. Highly recommended 👌

My room is very small and simple, but it’s so peaceful here. I can take my time with morning coffee in the amazing atrium, enjoying the plants and quiet. The bed is really comfortable, and everything is very clean and convenient. The staff are kind and patient, even though I don’t speak English well. They’re helpful and sweet too.
