Ruyi Inn

This was the worst service I've ever experienced, and I wouldn't recommend the hotel. They call it eco-friendly, but the sheets weren't cleaned, the towels and doormats weren't changed, and the surroundings were never properly cleaned. It felt like I would have needed to check out and back in to get full service. They also said breakfast wasn't available during Chinese New Year and couldn't be bought separately. Then I saw tour groups having breakfast on their buses early in the morning. It made me feel like I was being treated as a fool.

The staff were patient and did their best to help us adjust our plans, even after we discussed the changes with them several times. We had come to Taitung for a triathlon, but renovations at our original hotel meant we switched to Ruyi Hotel, and the longer commute affected our itinerary. The room was spacious and simply clean when we arrived. I also felt more reassured by the wooden floor than I would have with carpet. Good value for money.

The room was roomy, but noise was a problem: the pipes were loud and children crying in other rooms could be heard. On the night we checked in, nobody was at the front desk after 10 PM. Hot water pressure stayed low and inconsistent all night.

There's a bus stop right outside with a direct ride to Zhiben Hot Springs, which was fantastic. The rooms were clean, and the hotel avoids disposable toiletries as part of its environmentally friendly approach. Breakfast was freshly cooked rather than pre-packaged, with an amazing range of dishes. The rice was translucent like pearls and absolutely delicious. Reception and service staff were friendly, professional, and sincere.
