After four days and three nights here, what sticks with me most is how cozy and clean Sleep Well Dongmian felt, along with its character and hospitality. I’m not usually one to leave reviews, but this place is special, and I’ll definitely come back again and again. The location worked well for heading north along the coast or through the mountains, seeing southern Taitung, and getting to the train station. The owners were kind and shared their favorite places to visit, plus helped us plan our trip. We had great conversations and company in the lobby every night, so have a chat with them when you’re there. This was the cleanest room and overall environment I’ve stayed in. The lobby, room, and outdoor areas were all spotless. I loved the simple, elegant interior, with touches of aboriginal culture and local character. The hostel could be a travel destination in itself. It’s rare to find somewhere comfortable with this much class along the way. I hope you get the chance to stay, too.

The dust was hard to ignore: the towel shelves were thick with it, and even the hairdryer was dusty. The bed sank as soon as I lay down and gave me no support, so after a few days my back hurt and I couldn't rest properly. I was also startled when staff sometimes appeared without warning. There wasn't a fridge in the room either, so I had to go downstairs to use one, which was inconvenient. The online pictures seemed cozy and I arrived with high hopes, but staying here was a huge letdown. For the price, the quality and attention to detail weren't worth it. This was the most disappointing guesthouse I've stayed in.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and it's fairly close to the city center, though the place is tucked into an alley. The bed had a comfortable firmness, and the room had its own air conditioning.
