Highness Hotel

I knew when I booked that the building was old, but the condition was much worse than I expected. The rooms are extremely dated, the furniture smells, and the bathroom only partly worked. The shower head was broken, and the curtain didn’t cover the whole shower, so water went everywhere. The Wi-Fi didn’t work either. When I told reception, they wouldn’t do anything until the next day, which got in the way of checking my flight status. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Getting around was easy: the intercity bus transfer station is a three-minute walk away, and the public bus stop for places like Mitsui Outlet Mall is about the same distance. Reception staff were friendly, spoke excellent English, and made check-in smooth. We also appreciated the plentiful drinking water and the lake view from our room. The room was spacious, and the bed was clean and very comfortable. The hotel has a charming historic, romantic feel, with floral decorations on the room floor. The artificial flowers could use a dusting, though, and the bathroom is a little dated, even if it was clean and functional. Breakfast was better than average, with seasonal fruit, cookies, and little bites kids would enjoy. Good value for money, and a memorable stay. May 2025

This place is a dive. People smoke, and you can hear someone coughing two rooms away. Most of the gym equipment doesn’t work. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The room had a good view and was clean, but there was nothing special about it. The biggest annoyance was the lack of toiletries: no toothbrush or toothpaste, and no soap, just body wash in the bathroom. The buffet breakfast was okay. I was here for an event at the Chang Gung Internation Convention Center, which is barely a five-minute walk away.
