Holiday Inn Taoyuan Airport by IHG

We were three people with a lot of luggage in a 2 King Standard room, but there was still plenty of space to move around. The beds were comfortable, and after a long travel day I appreciated the strong shower pressure and how quickly the hot water came through. The hotel is about 10-15 minutes from Taoyuan International Airport, and the shuttle made getting to the airport easy. It only runs outbound to the airport, though, and doesn’t pick guests up on arrival. There are convenience stores within walking distance for snacks and last-minute necessities. As an IHG member, I also appreciated being able to check out at 2 PM. That gave us time to rest, repack, and relax before leaving. The hotel uses refillable glass jugs and water stations instead of the usual plastic bottles. Toiletries like toothbrushes are provided only on request or for purchase, another part of its more eco-friendly approach. The view and exterior were unremarkable, but that didn’t bother me much in an airport hotel. Soundproofing could be better: I could hear people in the next rooms sneezing or talking. It wasn’t disruptive enough to ruin the stay, but it was noticeable. Holiday Inn Taoyuan Airport is a comfortable, practical place to rest before or after a flight, with spacious rooms and thoughtful amenities. A reliable, pleasant stay, four out of five for me.

The rooms are a good size, the beds are really comfortable, and the staff are lovely. There’s a 7-11 and Family mart about a five-minute walk away, but the nearby restaurants close early and there aren’t many around. The soundproofing is awful. You can hear every word from people in the hall, and I had to ask the neighbours twice to shut up at midnight and 1 am. Without earplugs, you’ll get woken up. There’s mould in all the showers, and the whole lobby smelled of cigarettes because the doors were left open beside the smoking area. Why not have staff spray the showers with a bleach and water mixture? After the reply, the words sound nice, but what are they actually going to do about it?

The service is good, the staff are very helpful, and the rooms are clean with comfortable beds. But there’s no swimming pool, and there are zero wheelchair-accessible rooms. I found the lack of a pool extremely disappointing, since in my opinion a hotel isn’t a hotel or a holiday without one. Room amenities like toothbrushes and shower caps aren’t included and cost extra. Breakfast is overpriced.

The food was good, but I can’t say much about the location since I didn’t walk around the area. During our stay, some friends had no hot water in their showers, while some of us didn’t have a bidet. A few of us had to use towels to wipe dust out of our rooms when we arrived. Maybe the ongoing renovations had something to do with it. It seemed like some rooms hadn’t been inspected before they were given to guests.
