Tao Garden Hotel

The hair dryer was practically unusable. It ran for about 50 seconds before shutting off from overheating, then after waiting five minutes, it would work for about 10 seconds and cut out again. My check-in was a terrible experience because of the arrogant manager. I was traveling for business and booked through my company, but they insisted I show the company's physical credit card, even though they had the details and could charge the company account. They said I should find another hotel if I couldn't provide it, without saying whether they'd refund me. Rebooking through my company that day wasn't possible, so I had to pay with my personal card while they had already charged the company account. I was charged twice and only got the personal card refund after three months. At first they wouldn't give me proof of the second charge or refund. After I asked, they provided a statement about the second charge. The staff initially wouldn't do anything, and the manager refused to speak in person, only advising the front desk by phone. They kept insisting on seeing the company card, which most companies can't provide. Only after I said we should call the police did they agree to use my card as security. They first said they wouldn't need to charge it, but later said my card still had to be charged in addition to the company card. I wouldn't recommend this place to business travelers using a company account.

The beds were so comfy, and the location was excellent. There's a metro station nearby and an airport bus stop right in front of the hotel. Coffee places, shops, restaurants, a convenience store, and coin laundry are close by too. Breakfast was delicious 😋

The rooms are a decent size, but that's about the only compliment I can give. This is an extremely old hotel, past its heyday back in the 1980s.

It's quite noisy on the 8th floor. The room also has a musty, vinegary smell, almost like the sheets haven't dried fully.
