TY Motel

The receptionist was friendly and quick, the location was great, and the bed was comfortable enough. The rooms smelled a bit, but that was the least of the problems. We booked despite seeing a photo of a rat in the toilet, thinking it might be an isolated case. The night started normally, then we woke to noise inside the room and saw a rat drop with a very audible plop from a bag of pastries we'd left out. We put the bag in the fridge and went back to sleep. About 15 minutes later, loud scuttling started inside the walls and ceiling above us and kept going the rest of the night. I had a terrible night's sleep. It was shocking how loudly a rat can run through a ceiling. If you're still considering it, there are plenty of other hotels along the Taoyuan AirPort Express MRT line. The service is frequent, so you can stay farther from the airport and still get a direct ride to the terminal without a taxi. It runs from 6 AM to midnight, which covers most schedules. The room was dirty, smelly and uncomfortable, and not inviting at all. We turned the lights off and almost immediately heard rustling in our snack bag, then what I assumed were mice racing through the walls and ceiling. It went on all night, and we didn't feel alone in the room. The location and rate can be tempting, but do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. This was the worst motel I've ever stayed in.

The room design is unusual and impressive, and I liked that the TV sound came through the ceiling. Staff were always helpful, and I never had to wait. Having a private garage was great too. If I come back, I'd stay there again.

A bit dingy and dirty, but the room was perfectly sufficient for the price. I'd go back if I needed to.
