We booked more than eight weeks ahead, but when it came time to confirm the rooms, activities, and dates, the owner suddenly backed out of what we had agreed. That threw our plans into chaos and ruined our family vacation arrangements at the last minute. The owner showed no concern about the trouble this caused. Communication was poor, and the service felt unreliable and irresponsible toward customers. We won't stay here on a future vacation.

Our group of eight got so comfortable at Xiaodao Villa that we didn't want to leave. Every room was clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully styled. The owner looked after us warmly throughout our 3-day, 2-night family stay, and we felt at home from check-in. Both mornings, breakfast was beautifully put together with fresh ingredients, and the dishes were memorable. We also tried the Miss Chou BBQ catering the owner recommended. The atmosphere was great, the ingredients were fresh and high quality, and everyone loved the food. It added a lot to the family trip. It was a heartwarming stay, and we hope to return to Xiaodao Villa. ❤️
The host was generous, and the staff turned out to be friendlier and less strict than I expected. Before booking, the price made me think there would be lots of rules. Guests also took good care of the place and its quality. There were more facilities and food than we could fit into our stay, and I wished we'd had more time. The karaoke sounded great, though we were asked not to sing until midnight after a complaint, even with few neighbors around. Cookware was provided, including double-sized branded items, but we didn't get to use it. The pool is really a children's wading pool, and since it wasn't summer, nobody wanted to swim. The water feature was a nice addition to the garden. It may have been the most expensive whole-building guesthouse in Yilan, but after checking in, I felt the price was worth it.
We had a great time using the little pool and canoes, which both the kids and adults enjoyed. The view was lovely, with Turtle Island visible in the distance, and the guesthouse itself was clean, quiet, and comfortable. For our child's birthday, the owner decorated warmly and gave the adults a bottle of red wine, such a thoughtful touch. Breakfast the next morning was excellent, made with local Yilan ingredients and offering Chinese and Western choices, including soy milk from the Yilan Farmers' Association. I've added it to my wishlist, and we'll book the whole guesthouse again. 😊
