Taroko Liiko Hotels

I’ve stayed in fancier and more expensive places, but this is still my favorite hotel. The staff felt like family by the end, and they went out of their way to help when I left my jacket behind, working tirelessly to get it back to me. They also made room for our tandem bike, which wasn’t easy to store. The room had a foresty smell and a stunning mountain view. Everything was top-notch, from the rooms to the breakfast. I still think about the radish cakes and pumpkin oat soy milk. There are laundry machines in the basement, plus the cutest cats sleeping in the lobby. It’s an easy bike ride to Taroko Gorge, which alone is worth visiting Taiwan for. This hotel makes the trip even better, and we really didn’t want to leave.

We spent one night at Hotel Liiko at the end of December 2025. It’s a new, well built modern hotel, with spacious, very clean rooms and everything we needed. The breakfast buffet was the best we had during our two weeks in Taiwan. Staff were very helpful and even sent an item we’d lost on to one of our next hotels. A pleasant place at about a four star level, and we can highly recommend it.

We ate at the hotel and the food was absolutely delicious. They also offer free coffee and several rental e-bikes. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the hotel feels luxurious and is close to Taroko NP. Sadly, at the time I wrote this, earthquake damage to the gorge access roads meant most of the park’s scenic spots couldn’t be reached.

Although it’s rated three stars, the hotel felt much closer to four. Vivian and Ivy were especially helpful with reservations and suggestions, and the service from the team was warm and professional. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, with lovely views of green hillsides, cliffs, and the ocean. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at the hotel. FamilyMart next door made it easy to pick up snacks and essentials whenever we needed them, and the ocean was about a 20 minute walk away.
