Dubai Motel

This was the most luxurious place I’ve ever stayed. The room was clean, quiet, and had great snacks. You can drive straight up to your room, and every room has its own garage, which made it feel like being removed from the world. I stayed several nights as an American. It may not suit families, though the glass panels between the bathroom and main room are the only thing that might stop them. Let’s be honest, it’s basically a love motel, but a great one. I’d recommend it.

The bathroom is huge, with a big jacuzzi tub, and the rooms are better in quality and size, and cheaper, than a regular hotel. Still, it’s a decent love motel and we’ve stayed in better. The bed wasn’t very comfortable, and the two pillows were bad. There’s no Wi-Fi unless you ask, and even then it isn’t guaranteed. If they have a spare router to set up in your room, the internet is very slow.

The bedding seemed fine, though there weren’t many pillows or towels, but both my companion and I had serious allergy attacks. I took antihistamines right away; my friend spent the next day miserable with a runny nose and watery eyes. There were other problems too. The area has very little around, and the nearest night market was small and not very varied. It might be manageable with a scooter or car. By Taiwanese motel standards, the rooms were just OK. Our first room was disappointing, with a fairly small hard bed and an unimpressive bath. We asked about a bigger option because the website lists several room types, including VIP rooms with private pools. The second room was still on the small side, though the bathroom was better. Its huge tub had a rainfall shower above it and a gushing showerhead above the TV, but the tub was cracked and leaked badly. The walls were also thin enough that we could hear conversations, and more. Be careful with the prices. When we changed rooms, we didn’t have time to check the new rate online and paid for the upgrade. We later found management had charged us 500NTD more than the rate on their own website and 1200NTD more than Agoda. There are plenty of places around Yilan, so I’d go elsewhere.

The rooms smelled too strongly of cigarettes, though the place was clean overall.
