The outdoor setting is excellent, but the rooms are damp and the facilities are run-down. There was no dehumidifier, the hot water supply was unstable, old lamps had spider webs, and the wardrobes were damaged. I strongly urge the owner to spend money renewing the room facilities. We’d planned to stay 3 nights, but left after just 1 because many tiny black bugs, visible to the naked eye, were coming out of the mattresses and quilts. It was frightening. I Googled it and found they might be caused by mold, which seemed plausible given how damp the rooms were. We slept on the hard floor that night and couldn’t fall asleep at all. The next day we left and booked another hotel, paying extra.

We were lucky enough to see a rare flower that blooms only at night. The property itself was beautiful and clean, and the owners were really friendly. A great place to stay in Yilan.
