The homemade breakfast was simple, delicious, and full of the kind of warmth that's hard to forget. The owner's mother prepared it each day, and it made the stay feel welcoming and comfortable, almost like being at home. The place is thoughtfully managed, from the architecture and decor to all the small details. It's a little out of the way, but that's part of what makes the scenery so lovely. I come back to Yilan every Lunar New Year, and with all the B&B choices there, booking Shan Yi Fang felt like opening one of my beloved blind boxes. I arrived hopeful but a bit nervous about whether it would live up to online reviews. There was no pushy commercial feel, just sincerity and quiet. It gave me real time to rest and reflect, rather than feeling like a quick stop. Some beautiful places are worth the trip.

My child had a great time, especially with the foosball table, and the place was clean and felt upscale. The shared areas and kitchen were comfortable, with lots of pretty tableware. The bed was very comfortable too. One unusual part of the design is that the bathroom is by the outdoor area, which might feel a little scary if you need the toilet at night. They kindly mailed our things back to Taipei after we forgot them. I'd definitely stay at this guesthouse again next time I'm back. Highly recommended!

A really comfortable spot to rest and recharge. The host made us feel very welcome, and the rooms and shared spaces were warm, simple, and elegant, with thoughtful details and little surprises. Breakfast was a generous serving of Chinese congee and side dishes. It was straightforward home cooking, but delicious.

After so long living in the city, I found it genuinely relaxing to come here. The damp air after the rain, with a hint of phytoncides, feels wonderful. I'd really recommend the place to friends visiting Yilan! 🫰
