Silks Place Yilan

We were only there for a short stay, so didn't get to try all the facilities. The staff also prepared a birthday cake for our child, which we really appreciated. This place is very kid-friendly, with a cinema, play area, little rides and snack bars. Guests can also use the spa, gym and book cafe with drinks and snacks for free. The hotel went above and beyond, and it's one of the reasons our kids enjoyed Taiwan so much. We'd definitely like to return, and I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Yilan.

There are free movie screenings every day. Pick up your tickets at the L6 counter. Kids can also use the free race car games on L1, and there's a bouncy castle, traffic light race track and lots of cars on L8. At the book cafe on L7, when it's open, you can have coffee, biscuits and bread for free, and there's a kids' play area and movie area among the books. Our family room was spacious and came with Evian bottled water, a coffee machine and a bathtub. Breakfast had lots of choices, and soft drinks, juice and even beer were available free-flow. The hotel is also home to the famous Red lantern/cherry duck. You need to reserve and pay a deposit for the duck.

There's plenty for kids to do here, with lots of family activities. Just check which room you book if your children want to ride their own little vehicle or motorcycle. We chose a family room without realizing that the fantastical room was the one we needed. Our room was on the only floor where kids couldn't drive, which was disappointing since they call it the “motorcycle hotel.” You can take the cars to drive in the shared area on the 8th floor, but there aren't any motorcycles there.

The food and how it was presented were great, and the service was just as good. It all felt like a complete package.
