The price was great and the location is convenient. I had a private room with a mattress on the floor, which was fine. There were a few flies, so I took off a star. Service was friendly. I left my bicycle locked in the courtyard overnight, which isn’t open to the public and seemed quite safe.

I was cycling from Hualien to Taitung and arrived early, tired and glad to find my small double room was ready. They kindly let me check in ahead of time so I could rest. While I was in the room, it started raining, and the staff moved my bicycle and its heavy bags and panniers from the open area under cover. I really appreciated that. The room was cozy and simple. The lounge and open area looked clean and pleasant, though I barely used them. The station is within walking distance and there are several food options nearby. Also, cat!

We had a three-person room with wood floors. The beds were on either side of the bathroom, which gave us nice privacy. The hotel was fully booked, so our two little kids shared our queen bed area and slept on the wood floor, which they found more fun. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the downstairs hostel space was nicely designed. We’d try that area next time. I loved the design and the thoughtful details for each type of stay. This hostel/hotel was so great that I want to come back right away.

3030 used to be a hotel, then MUJI RENOVATION renovated it. I didn’t really feel the MUJI influence during my stay, but I had a fantastic time and would like to visit again. I slept really well without earplugs and didn’t notice the noise some guests have mentioned. Being close to the train station made it easy to get around by rental car or on foot. There’s a market right nearby, so it’s easy to find an authentic local breakfast. My only regret was that there was no lamp on the desk. As a solo traveller, I needed to write things down as well as take photos to remember the trip, and glasses didn’t help much with the shadows on the desk.
