AJ Hotel Hsinchu

We could leave our things with the hotel before and after checkout, and the staff were very accommodating. The rooms were warm, clean, and spacious, close to Hsinchu station. Around 9 pm there was a snack, noodles in our case, and breakfast had lots of choices. I only wish breakfast started earlier than 6:30, since we had to leave at 6:45.

We'd stay here again. The rooms are large, the view is nice, and there's a mall next door with a FamilyMart and 7-Eleven nearby. Breakfast had a limited buffet selection. Supper was traditional Taiwanese food: you just walk in and sit down, and staff bring you a bowl of the day's special.

There's a relaxed feel in the lobby on the 14th floor, and they even put on a magic show for kids. The hotel is an easy walk from the high speed rail station, and breakfast has both Western and Asian options.

The location is really handy, right beside both the local train and High Speed train, so getting to another city is easy. I also liked the welcome drink, which lets you get a beer in the lobby. The rooms are a good size, but sound insulation isn't great: I could hear the lobby and wind. The bathroom layout was awkward, getting into the tub was difficult, and water splashed around and left the whole floor wet. Breakfast may be worth skipping for one of the nearby coffee shops.
