Bird of Paradise Lodge

The neighborhood looks pretty poor, so we didn't walk around by ourselves at night, though we felt safe the whole time. The rooms were clean, with a nice garden and a little terrace with lounge chairs for each one. Everyone on the team was kind and helpful. We stayed at Birds of Paradise Lodge while on safari with Paradiese Safari. They were adding more rooms and expected the work to be done the following month. There’s a new dining room for breakfast and dinner, and you can eat there in the evening. Prices were fair. Neema is a great cook, and we especially liked the pilau at dinner and her banana pancakes in the morning. They ask in advance what you’d like to eat so they can plan. We’d happily recommend staying here.

Rahab was such a warm, friendly host. After a busy day in Arusha, she even brought us a flask of tea so we could relax. The tortoise was a nice extra, too. The lodge feels carefully thought through, with nothing left to chance. Our rooms were lovely and private. That bathroom window was epic, and the sliding windows had movable insect screens. We really enjoyed our stay.

The beds were super comfortable, and everything was clean and worked as it should. Breakfast was lovely, with fresh juice and pancakes. It’s very quiet, so we slept peacefully. We stayed here before and after our safari, and it worked perfectly both for settling into Tanzania and unwinding afterward. I’d definitely recommend it.
