Evergreen Bungalows

Claudia and the whole team were wonderful, warm people with great attitudes. The beachfront setting is perfect, and all the food and drinks were delicious. Anything we needed was arranged right away. If you stay in the King room with balcony, the sunrise will wake you up in the most beautiful way.

It really feels like living on the beach here: sand everywhere, no concrete, plenty of green, hammocks, and lots of spots to relax nearby. The beach is chilled, and the location is excellent. Rooms are rustic but clean, with hot showers and daily housekeeping. The food is good, breakfast is excellent, and the staff are both professional and amazing. Some days of the week there are live shows with good music artists. After 20 years of traveling around the world, this is one of the best places I’ve stayed.

The rooms have a really romantic feel, and you can step straight out onto the sand with the ocean in view and its sound nearby. We also loved the peaceful setting away from towns and villages. If nightlife is important, Paje might suit better, though it’s only a five-minute drive away. We liked being able to enjoy the beach without people constantly approaching us, and would choose this spot again over a busier area. The tables and beds set right in the sand, the sunrise views, and the main hall made it stand out for us. Claudia and the rest of the team were attentive without crowding us, always around when needed and bringing a lovely atmosphere. Meals were consistently good. Breakfast had a nice range and became something we looked forward to, while lunch and dinner changed often, mostly featuring well-prepared local dishes with a couple of options for a break from the island’s curries and fish. This was the only place where we got to try traditional ugali.

The outside area had a nice beach feel, and the atmosphere was romantic. The sea was warm, though the tide was huge and it was very windy while we were there. The sun starts disappearing after 4:30 pm, since this is the wrong side of the island for it. Our room was very dark, with a badly uneven floor. One side of the bed was about 10 cm higher than the other, which wasn’t great for two people sharing it. There were mosquitoes inside, plus holes in the roof and mosquito net. The food was good, although some nights the buffet was compulsory even if you weren’t very hungry. Staff were nice. The owner is a German woman.
