Mediterraneo Hotel & Restaurant

The chicken pizza was amazing, and the service so far has been great. It's a peaceful place for dinner, events, meetings, or a family meal. There's a small playground for kids, though I'd like to see more activities, such as a seesaw, merry-go-round, and a mini football area. I haven't tried the rooms yet, but hope to stay overnight and try more of the menu.

Dining by the Indian Ocean, with the waves just yards away, is hard to beat. The beachfront setting is lovely, and Mediterraneo is a peaceful retreat in Dar. The rooms are cozy and spacious, and the welcoming staff treat you like family. Highly recommended if you want some tranquility by the sea.

The hotel is beautiful and its location is amazing, but the air conditioning failed in both rooms our group used. In Dar es Salaam's heat, that's not acceptable. When we raised it, the response was “Pole dada,” meaning “sorry, sister.” It felt like an easy way to brush off a service issue. For the price and type of hotel, I found the customer service very poor.

It's a lovely, idyllic setting, and the staff get 10/10. The food was okay, with à la carte at 7/10, but breakfast was 2/10. The rooms need urgent renovation: I stayed four nights and woke up covered in bed bug bites, the TV didn't work at all, and the towels were dirty and seemed more like sheets than towels. For a drink or dinner, this place may be a win. Staying more than one night is a loss. The venue is overrated, though you get what you pay for with the cheap rooms, bed bugs included.
