Breakfast was a real highlight, with plenty of fresh, tasty choices, and dinner at the on-site restaurant was excellent too. I also liked the pool and the spot for breakfast and coffee. Protea was quiet at night despite being close to everything, and my room was spotless, nicely decorated, and had what I needed, including fast Wi-Fi, bottled water, and a well-stocked minibar. From arrival, the staff were welcoming and professional and did their best to make things right. I had a fantastic stay and would happily return. Highly recommend Protea.

The hotel seemed fine until I discovered money missing from my bag. I had only left the room for cleaning, and when I contacted the managers by phone and email, they didn't accept responsibility. I was very disappointed and left angry.

I've stayed at the Protea in Dar for more than nine years, and the friendly, helpful staff are a big reason I keep coming back. The rooms are clean and nice, and the location works well for MUHAS campus, the city proper, and Masaki. Breakfast is excellent, and the restaurant is solid. Strongly recommend!

What keeps bringing me back on my business trips to Dar es Salaam is the hotel's cosy inner square, good food, friendly personnel, and location near the university. I've tried other hotels in town, but last August the staff and management here were especially helpful when I had a personal problem. Their professional, personal care went beyond what I'd expected, so I'll be back.
