Rungwe Palace Hotel

I'm a regular guest, so the rooms were a letdown. On two occasions my room's air conditioner sounded like a generator, then stopped working at midnight. I had to complain and was moved to another room in the middle of the night. In general, the rooms aren't attractive. The TV remote had no batteries, and nothing was done after I complained. The junior staff deserve credit for wanting to help, but they can't fix things that are beyond their reach. Management needs to improve.

The bathroom wasn't clean, water was in short supply, and the towels felt hard. The view from the upper floor rooms was disgusting. Noise from the nearby mosque was excessive, especially in the early morning when it disturbed sleep. On the plus side, staff were friendly, the elevator worked, and convenience stores and food outlets were nearby.

There isn't any parking, so arrange it ahead of time. The hotel sits on a busy street beside a nightclub, with music blaring outside and plenty of noise. There's a money exchange service at reception. It isn't suited to a quiet stay, but could be a good fit if you enjoy beer and dancing.

I stayed for five months, and it was the best experience I had.
