Yellow Card Apartment & Bungalow

I keep coming back for the same good food and easygoing atmosphere. It’s a little gem in Jambiani, not far from the beach, with a lively feel that draws in people passing by. I’ve spent many hours just enjoying the energy there. The restaurant team are super cool, and the menu is good, with fresh, tasty food. Guests speak very highly of the accommodation, which seems to suit different kinds of travellers. 😋

The café is the best part for me. The food is really good, especially the seafood pizza, and breakfast usually means fruit, fresh juice, coffee, then eggs and toast made how you like them, scrambled, omelette, fried, Spanish, and so on. The place itself is clean and laid-back, with a nice family feel. The staff are friendly, though only the main managers speak English. You can’t see the ocean from here, but it’s less than a five minute walk away. One thing to keep in mind: souvenirs sold there cost 2-3 times what you’d pay at the nearby Paje market. Also, if you’re in one of the apartments above the café, the balcony is shared by both apartments and the balcony door doesn’t lock, so get to know your neighbours. :)

We had such a great time at Yellow Card, and I’d happily stay a third time. The bungalows are clean and have their own bathrooms, and there’s a big kitchen with all the equipment you need if you want to cook. Laundry was included too. The team were amazing and always ready to help, and I loved being close to local people and the beach. There’s a school nearby, so we got to know lots of lovely kids. They grow their own fruit, and if you’re lucky it might go straight from the tree onto your breakfast plate, into juice, or into a smoothie. The cosy café serves great espresso and coffee, fresh local food, and what I thought were the best smoothies. There’s also a volleyball court and a trampoline you can use for free, and you can rent everything you need for snorkelling. It was my second stay in the yellow card apartment, and I loved the area.

The team made my vacation worth every cent. Moody, Miriam, and Haji were always around when needed, and they were friendly and helpful. Chef Abdul kept us well fed with delicious food, while Fatma and Wanu made sure the room was always clean. This is my favourite place in Jambiani, Zanzibar. They provide great service.
