Mr. Meremeta even helped us recover a suitcase that had gone missing in transit, following up with the airport in Dar es Salaam himself. That personal care says a lot about the place. The whole team genuinely wants guests to be happy, and everyone was kind, quick to help, and responsive. They sorted out bicycles and answered all our practical questions. We stayed four nights at Meremeta Lodge at the beginning of a three-week trip around Tanzania. The lodge sits in a lovely garden, and the cabañas are spacious, with big terraces, comfortable beds, strong water pressure, effective air conditioning, and spotless rooms. We ate dinner there on three of the four nights. Everything was freshly made, very good, and served efficiently. We also booked snorkeling and whale shark tours through the lodge, and both were well organized and high quality. It was an excellent start to our trip. Thanks to Mr. Meremeta and the team, and best wishes for a successful 2026.

The people here made the stay memorable. Meremeta and his team were kind, accommodating, and gave us great service whenever we needed help. It's a wonderful lodge, and I'd happily stay here again if we return to Mafia. Definitely recommend it.

What stayed with us most was how Mr. Meremeta and the staff treated us. We felt welcomed like family, and when an unexpected situation came up, Mr. Meremeta helped us well beyond what his job required. His kindness and care are something we won't forget. Thank you from the heart, and see you next time! We had the privilege of staying at Meremeta Lodge in February 2024. It has an authentic, local feel. The rooms are spacious and clean, with air conditioning and mosquito nets over the beds, which are essential here. Meals were plentiful, varied, and delicious, and the help arranging activities was impeccable.

Meremeta himself made this stay especially good. He picked us up at the airport, knows people all over the island, and helped us with so many things. He's a caring host who can arrange just about everything and really wants you to have a lovely visit. We'll definitely come back, and recommend supporting the locals. We had the best stay we could have imagined on Mafia Island at Meremita Lodge. It's not right on the beach, which seemed to mean far fewer mosquitos than at the beach lodges. As far as we know, it's the only lodge offering free bikes. The food was excellent, and the lodge and garden were beautiful and clean.
