A lovely place for a quiet getaway, close to the beach but still with a local feel. The staff were lovely, and I’d definitely recommend it. :)

Our favorite place was the giant swing in the backyard, where we spent most evenings. The beach is at most a 10-minute walk away. Since the rooms don’t have windows you can close, you have to get used to the baby bush at night or music from other hotels. If you’ll spend most of your time on trips or at the beach, Mount Zion is a good choice. We stayed around 10 nights. It was a little hard to find at first, but it’s the hotel opposite the Laguna place, and you can also use their pool. Breakfast was delicious each day, with fresh juice, and we could make coffee or tea. The staff were very friendly and showed us how to get to the beach, store and restaurants. They even helped with our lost baggage and stayed up late so we could get it. We had two colorful, African-style rooms for five people. They were okay, though there wasn’t much water. The rooms were cleaned daily, with towels and sheets replaced. The staff also let us stay two extra hours because of our plane.

The garden was beautiful, full of different trees and plants, and the rooms were clean and very nice. The location was peaceful, the food delicious and inexpensive, and everyone was super friendly and helpful. Thanks for a great time there, definitely recommended! :)

For five nights at Mount Zion Lodge, we loved how welcome the staff made us feel. Juma looked after us like old friends visiting, Akida arranged some brilliant nearby snorkeling trips, and Chef Dullah was happy to cook us amazing local dishes. Kidawa cleaned our rooms each day and decorated them with flowers from the garden. It’s an affordable, laid-back place without the bustle of bigger resorts. Thank you, Akida and team. We miss you and the home you made for us.

Michamvi Bay is very close, with some really good bars and places to visit. Mount Zion Lodge has different bungalows and a beautiful garden, and it’s a peaceful spot where you can rest. The people are very nice and will organize things and help in many ways. Special thanks to Akida and his wonderful team. We felt like family and had a great time there. PS: I hope they build a natural pool there one day. 🏊♂️ Mr George 😊
