Ngare Lodge

The pool was out of service, so there wasn’t much else to do. Still, the staff were friendly, the room was basic, and the bed was comfortable. I liked the Swahili veg curry, but the rest of the food was average. If you’re out doing things during the day and only need a place to sleep and rest, this works.

This place felt like faulty towers. The paths were very unsafe, and it looked as though the building work wasn’t finished. Staff didn’t seem to know what they were supposed to be doing. The food, when it finally came, was freezing and poor quality. I had to go into the kitchen to find something to eat, where food was sitting around and being put in the microwave. They didn’t have Coke Zero either. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We spent a hot, sleepless night with mosquitoes that wouldn’t leave us alone. The room was bad: noisy, full of mosquitoes, with useless internet and an AC that couldn’t cool it down.

After Tarangire and before heading to Serengeti, we stayed one night here. The outside area was a nice place to relax. Our room was clean, with a comfortable bed and a good hot shower. The food was tasty, and the staff were kind and helpful. A very nice place.
