The surroundings are marvelous, and the hotel environment is beautiful. But staying here was a terrible experience, with poor service. The room needed repairs and maintenance, and there were too few staff, who also seemed demotivated. The owner stays at the hotel and controls everything. He needs to hire an experienced manager to turn the business around.

A really bad hotel. The smell in the bed is still on my mind. Disgusting and disappointing. I’d recommend sleeping on the street.

We felt unsafe and wanted to leave after only two hours, but the receptionist called the owner, who introduced himself and then yelled at us and swore at us when we explained. We ended up paying for four days despite being there just two hours. The food was awful and far too expensive. The place felt like a scam: broken furniture, photos that didn't match reality, and very unprofessional staff who didn't speak English. As we were leaving, the only other guests asked if we'd also had the worst experience ever. I'd never recommend this “hotel” to anyone. Don't make the same mistake we did.

The staff were friendly, and the owner was open to requests and feedback when he was around. I found the bed especially comfortable, and the huts were nice, with a spacious shared area decorated with plants and flowers. There's a pool too. It's up on the hills in a quiet, fairly isolated spot, with views of Lake Victoria. You can climb the nearby rocks for an even better look. One thing to know: some weekends a pub in the nearby village gets loud enough to disturb what are usually peaceful nights. I stayed for a few weeks and really enjoyed it.
