Lake Ndutu Luxury Tented Lodge

After several days sitting in a car on the main safari, a walking tour is a nice change. Ask for Guide Joshua at the Lodge. He offers guided walks with a local Masai and a Guard, and exploring the surroundings with them is very informative.

The days we spent on safari around lake Ndutu were our favorite. Since we were outside the Serengeti national park, we could go off-road and get close to so many animals. Over two days we saw just one other safari vehicle, and only for a few minutes, so it felt like we had the place to ourselves. We stayed in one of the “tents” at the edge of camp, though it felt much more like a beautifully furnished hotel room. The bush setting was surreal: giraffes came by, and at night we heard lions and hyenas nearby. To walk between your room and the main dining area, you have to call a Masai tribesman to escort you in case you meet animals. The food was good and the service great.

The rooms, or tents, are spacious, clean, and well looked after, and the restaurant serves very good food. Alfredo was our waiter, and we honestly think he's the best. His world-class service made both our stay and restaurant visits memorable, and he helped with everything we needed. Thanks so much, Fredi. We wish you all the best and lots of success. We stayed two nights during our safari and felt more like friends than guests, thanks especially to the staff. Elia looked after us so well the whole time, and we were grateful for the warm welcome. The camp sits in a small forest, with unspoiled nature visible from the veranda. The “tents” have unusual furnishings, though the bathroom is a little dark. The restaurant is slightly raised, with a lovely view over the pool to the lake, and the varied buffet had everything we wanted.
